SC – Anyone reading this interview will be holding a publication whose format adopts the shape and feel of a children’s book—very thick pages and image- based spreads. How do you think your work relates to, or subverts, the physical expectation of this form?
AHR – It is much more of an object than most books are. Even this interview is printed on an insert detached from the book, which allows the work to become something different by separating the treatment of images from the text. To exist outside of language. So, even though the spreads technically hold a reproduction of things that I have made, they retain the essential material experience of my work.
